The implication of her dissolution as a person with self-identity was terrifying. She chose what made her feel like she was someone, not knowing their intention was the complete opposite.

Is he gonna kill me? Yes. Really enjoyed his first movie. So much so that I went into this one only having a slight feel for the plot. I think the best indication of this movie missing the mark is the three or four times where the audience laughed out loud. Don't think that was the intent of the director or actors. Midsommar definition. Midsommar and Hereditary left me thinking about them for MONTHS (a year already for Hereditary) and I really hope to see what Ari Aster will do in the future. I watched Midsommar when I was experiencing grief myself (my pet died, I know this might not seem like much but I loved her a lot and she was with me through really though times in my life, so I was and still am very affected by this) and it really hit me. The beginning of the movie really mirrored a lot of what I was feeling, but it does end on a. positive? note. I'm really fascinated by how the cult supports her, by letting her know she's not alone. The scene where she's crying and all the girls are mimicking her cry around her to let her know she's not alone is a really powerful one that stayed with me. Even though this movie has humor, which Hereditary definitely didn't, it never made me take it less seriously either. Honestly, I know a lot of people don't like this movie, but I can't help but be biased and find it brilliant. I really hope to see more movies from Ari Aster.
